What we collect, why, and how to make us stop.
What we collect
When you visit, our server records the request: IP address, browser and header details, the page you landed on, and where you came from. That happens on every visit and is how we tell real visitors from automated traffic.
If you accept cookies, we also set a first-party cookie so we can recognise return visits and understand which channels bring people back. If you decline, that cookie is not set and your visits are not linked together — everything else above still happens, because we need it to keep the site up and to defend it.
If you fill in the form, we keep what you send, connected to the visits made from your browser.
Some longer pieces ask for your email before the rest opens. When you give it, we set one more cookie so you are not asked again on the next piece. It holds no identifier — it says only that this browser has already been let in, and on which day — so it is set whether or not you accepted cookies, and it cannot be used to recognise you. The newsletter box on that form is separate and never ticked for you: reading does not depend on it, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like.
Why
To reply to you, to understand which of our work brings people here, and to keep automated abuse off the site. We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not run advertising trackers.
Changing your mind
Withdrawing is meant to be as easy as agreeing, so it is one button:
Earlier visits are not deleted by that button. The consent that covered them was real at the time, and removing them would be rewriting the record rather than respecting your choice. If you want those gone as well — or want to know exactly what we hold — email contactus@planck9.com and we will action it. That is a different right, and you have it.
